how to use your shin splints treatment

Intended use
The Solushin is a lower limb orthosis used to perform soft-tissue therapy and biomechanical manipulation to treat medial tibial stress syndrome (MTSS) and/or other lower limb injuries related to the tightness of the soleus muscle.
The Solushin is only to be worn during low activity such as walking, sitting or stretching. It is recommended to wear the device for at least 30 mins, but no longer than 2-hours.
Meet your calf (soleus) muscle
a quick introduction
Please refer to the image on the right (or below for mobile) for a view of your soleus muscle in red on the right leg from the back.
- This point will be targeted by the rubber diamond on the top strap.
- This point, which lies on the front side of your leg, will be targeted by the rubber diamond on the second strap.
- This point will be targeted by the rubber diamond on the third strap.
Step 1: The Bottom strap
The site of pain
Please refer to the image for location of the rod (shown in green)
- Slide on the sleeve and align the rod at the site of the pain associated with shin splints on the inside each of your shin bone (show in green).
- The vertical blue strip should line up roughly along your shin bone.
- Tighten and secure the bottom strap.
Step 2: The top strap

- Align the rubber diamond with point 1 as highlighted in meet your calf (soleus) muscle.
- Tighten and secure the top strap.
Step 3: The second strap

Please refer to the image for location of the rubber diamond on the soleus muscle (muscle in red).
- Align the rubber diamond with point 2 as highlighted in meet your calf (soleus) muscle.
- Tighten and secure the second strap once in place.
Step 4: The third strap

- Align the rubber diamond with point 3 as highlighted in meet your calf (soleus) muscle.
- Tighten and secure the third strap once in place.
step 5: wear for 30mins - 2 hours
do not wear during intense physical activity

wear before and after training
Why not make the Solushin a part of your routine? It's a great way to prepare your legs for the training session ahead, and also ease the pain associated with shin splints after training.
general safety
Please use this device only after being carefully directed by your clinician in its appropriate application and usage. If you develop any new pain, swelling, weakness or are concerned about your leg please remove the device immediately and see your clinician for review.Please note that this device is intended as an adjunct therapy in the treatment of MTSS and/or other lower limb injuries and is not recommended as a single therapy.Not recommended for use in children 12 years or under.

Do not use this if:
- You have been diagnosed with, or your doctor has suspicion of, a lower limb stress fracture, compartment syndrome of the leg, chronic exertional compartment syndrome, complex regional pain syndrome, popliteal artery entrapment syndrome, a neurological disease affecting the leg, a disease of the blood that affects your blood clotting function, lymphoedema, any skin disease affecting the legs, peripheral vascular disease, or any other medical condition affecting the legs.
- You have experienced any skin, soft tissue or bony trauma to the leg.
- You are pregnant.
